In collaboration with a local builder this project in Rye nestled atop a sand dune key was to provide a prospect for the house looking outward whist using indigenous plant species to provide shelter and screening for the occupants. The visual impact of the Architectural form of the building frontage is striking yet subtle, this was incorporated into the Garden through clusters of Banksia’s, Sheoak’s and Moonah’s spread amongst the remnant Tea Tree vegetation. The rear of the property acts as a refuge from the prospect of the frontage through a wrapping, soft lawn area, fire pit with local limestone cladding and outdoor shower placed adjacent to a Sheoak and native garden beds. The whole house is screened with native Hop Bush hedging with clumps of Correa’s and Cushion Bushes complementing the sedges and grasses spread throughout.
